A Frederick woman was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. 15 near Frederick.

Maryland State Police identified the woman who died as Mary F. Carson, 87.

Police said in a news release that they responded to the crash at around 7 p.m.

Carson, driving a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, stopped at a stop sign on Old Frederick Road, police said. Then, she pulled out onto U.S. 15, failing to yield the right of way, the news release said. Carson’s car was struck by a northbound 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Carson was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from her car, according to police. She was taken by ambulance to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
