Clermont, NY : 22-year-old man charged with manslaughter in a fatal crash in Hudson Valley on Saturday, January 16, 2016

A 22-year-old New York man has been charged with manslaughter in a fatal crash in Hudson Valley.

Police say Andrew Casey, of South Beach, was driving northbound on Route 9 in Clermont on Saturday when the car left the road, struck several trees and a utility pole and stopped in an embankment.

Police say the passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Clarke of Red Hook, was found partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Casey was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

State police charged Casey with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. He was ordered held without bail. Police say toxicology results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
