SUFFOLK, VA : 78-year-old driver dies from injuries in Suffolk crash in the 1900 block of Portsmouth Blvd./Route 58 on Monday, 22nd April 2019

Suffolk police say a crash that happened Monday along Route 58 has turned deadly.

The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. on April 22 in the 1900 block of Portsmouth Blvd./Route 58. Police say the driver ran off the road and hit several trees. 78-year-old Irvin L. Humphries of Wilmington, NC was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He died early Sunday morning.

Police say Humphries and a dog were the only occupants of the vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Suffolk Police.
