Brentwood, TN : 8-year-old boy killed in crash near Granny White Pike on Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2016

An 8-year-old boy was killed in a crash on Old Hickory Boulevard near Granny White Pike on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the driver of a Honda Odyssey minivan stopped in traffic and was struck from behind by a Jeep Wrangler.

The boy was in the third row of the minivan. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Police said the driver of the minivan, the boy’s 41-year-old mother, and a 9-year-old girl in the second row were both OK.

The driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old man, was released from the scene.

Police said there was no evidence that either driver were impaired or under the influence.

The district attorney will determine if any charges will be filed.

Police said the children in the minivan were properly restrained.
