GROTON, VT : A Barre woman was charged with DUI following a crash on Saturday, July 8, 2017
A Barre woman was charged with DUI following a crash Saturday afternoon in Groton, according to police.
Vermont State Police said Penny Wade, 53, was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy east on Route 302 at around 2:30 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a corner. Police said her car somersaulted off the roadway and hit a front porch.
Police said Wade, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H.
Police said that speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash, and that they cited Wade for drunken driving and careless and negligent operation.
