Blackford County, IN : Driver killed after a single vehicle crash on State Road 18 just east of County Road 400 W on Monday, Nov 9, 2015

Indiana State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that took place Monday that claimed the life of a rural Hartford City man.61 year old Dan Thompson from rural Hartford City.

A preliminary investigation by Senior Trooper Mike Swallow indicated at approximately 2:55 p.m., Dan Thompson, 62, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on State Road 18 just east of County Road 400 W when the car began to travel left of center. Thompson apparently over-corrected.

The vehicle then rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its roof in a field. Thompson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Blackford County Coroner. Swallow was assisted by Trooper Eric Treon from the State Police post in Peru, Montpelier Police Department, Grant County Sheriff Department, Hartford City Fire Department, Blackford County Coroner’s Office and IU Health/Blackford County EMS.
