Authorities say a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a sport utility vehicle that drove through a school bus warning signal has died.
Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs says 12-year-old Jazmin Hernandez died Monday. Hernandez was struck in Glenwood on Monday afternoon and was later transferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital, where she died.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette the school bus had stopped to unload passengers and had its emergency lights and signals activated when an oncoming Ford Explorer failed to yield.
Hernandez was struck by the vehicle as she crossed the highway.
Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler says the driver of the SUV is being questioned. Prosecutors will determine whether to file charges in the case.
