Harrison County, MS : 11-year-old boy hit, killed by vehicle on Hwy. 49 near West Wortham Road on Friday night, January 23, 2015

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said an 11-year-old boy was killed when a vehicle struck him on Highway 49 near West Wortham Road Friday night.

Hargrove said Spencer Henry, of Gulfport, was crossing the highway around 5:45 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities tell us the driver and passenger in the vehicle that hit Henry were taken to Garden Park Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Cpl. Benjamin Seibert tells us the wreck is under investigation.
