Mattoon, IL : Both drivers injured after a two-vehicle accident near Lake Paradise on Thursday evening, March 31, 2016

Both drivers needed medical attention after a two-vehicle accident at an intersection near Lake Paradise Thursday evening.

One driver disobeyed a stop sign and collided with the other vehicle at the intersection of County Roads 100N and 150E, about a mile south of the lake, at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, according to Capt. Brian Huston of the Coles County Sheriff's Office.

Huston said a report listed the driver who disobeyed the stop sign as Morgan J. Lanman, 17, 1309 Champaign Ave., Mattoon, who was westbound on County Road 100N, also known as Etna Road.

The other vehicle's driver was identified as Jessica L. Sponsel, 24, of rural Toledo, who was southbound on County Road 150E, also known as Lake Road, he said.

Lanman was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after the accident, Huston said. She has since been released, according to a Carle representative.

Sponsel was taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, which doesn't release information on patient conditions.

Huston said the accident report was preliminary and didn't include information about any passengers that might have been in the vehicles.
