4-year-old girl hit by car, killed in Hudson Florida
A 4-year-old girl was killed after being hit by an SUV in Hudson on Wednesday afternoon.Deputies said the accident happened around 4 p.m. right outside her family's apartment at the Anclote Villas Apartments.
According to officials, the child's mother, Cathy Jo Ivancsits, was backing out of a parking spot with her 4-year-old daughter Michelle in the SUV when her husband suddenly walked outside. That's when deputies said she stopped to talk with him for a moment and without them knowing, Michelle got out of the SUV and walked around to the front of the car.
Moments later, deputies said the mother ran over her daughter and had no idea she had done so. Officials said she saw her husband waving his arms and screaming and so she ran back to where she hit her child.A construction worker at the complex watched the tragedy unfold.
"She ran down there and she immediately picked the child up and I was yelling at her to put the child down, don't pick her up, and she kept picking her up," said Trae Denney. "The father was on the phone with 911 and there was an ambulance right around the corner so I ran up and grabbed the fire department and brought them back down here."
The little girl was transported to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point where she later died.
The Florida Highway Patrol are investigating. The young girl has a 12-year-old sister and 6-year-old brother.
