Davison County, S.D : Two women injured in a one-vehicle crash west of Mitchell early Thursday morning, September 22, 2016

Two Mitchell women were injured in a one-vehicle crash one mile west of Mitchell early Thursday morning.

Agnes Drapeaux, 26, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries when the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving crossed from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane and went entered a ditch. After entering the ditch along 254th Street, the vehicle hit a combine with an implement attached.

The passenger, Martina Medicine Horn, 30, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Both Medicine Horn and Drapeaux were transported to a Mitchell hospital. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is still investigating the 7:48 a.m. crash that occurred near the intersection of 254th Street and 407th Avenue, and the Davison County Sheriff's Office and Mitchell Fire and Rescue also responded to the crash.

The crash occurred near the used equipment lot of Scott Supply Co. According to Bob Scott, one of the owners of Scott Supply, the vehicle struck and "demolished" a 40-foot wide draper header attached to a Case IH combine.

"I just moved all that stuff out there on Saturday so everyone could look at it over the weekend, and I wish I wouldn't have put it out there now," Scott said.

Scott said the combine will have to be inspected for damage, but the $100,000 header was damaged beyond repair.

"It was for sale, but it's not for sale anymore," Scott said.
