Miami-Dade, FL : 11-year-old boy killed in I-95 crash on Monday, July 11, 2016

A 2000 Nissan Altima heading north on Interstate 95 tried to make a lane change around 8 a.m. Monday. What happened in the next few seconds killed an 11-year-old boy, left four others injured including two children and shut down I-95 northbound at Northwest 135th Street for more than four and a half hours.

Killed was 11-year-old Jean Lindor, who was in the Nissan with four other people. All five were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Nouse Lacroix, 41, was driving her Nissan in the right lane when she attempted to change lanes to her left into the path of a 2016 Mack mixer truck. The Nissan's left rear hit the truck's right front, sending the Nissan spinning one more lane to the left -- right into the path of a a 1997 Freightliner, a semi. The Freightliner smashed the spinning Nissan in the car's right rear, sending it across the express lanes and into the left side wall, trunk first.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took 13-year-old Diane Lindor, 68-year-old Denise Armond and Lacroix to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Nine-year-old Matthew Lindor was in serious condition. Jean Lindor was also rushed to the trauma center, where he died. Lacroix and the Lindor children wore their seat belts, FHP said.

Neither truck driver was injured in the crash.

The accident shut down the northbound express lanes. After about a half hour, all northbound lanes on the highway were shut down. Traffic was rerouted to side streets until around 12:40 p.m. The express lanes reopened at 12:43 p.m.

An express lanes crash at Northwest 95th Street was reported at 12:47 p.m.
