CHICO, CA : Man dies in single-car crash on Meridian Road on Sunday, 26th April, 2020

A man died Sunday in Chico after being ejected from his car in a single-vehicle crash.

California Highway Patrol Sergeant Brian McGee said at approximately 10:25 a.m. the man was driving a white Chevy Tahoe northbound on Meridian Road and attempted to pass a Toyota Tundra pickup truck by using the gravel shoulder.

After passing the pickup truck, the man turned to get back onto the roadway but “overcorrected,” McGee said.

The car began to turn sideways, flipped and rolled on the road.


The driver, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. Many of the personal items in the vehicle were also ejected as the car rolled.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
