Naugatuck,CT : Driver killed in two-vehicle crash in Naugatuck on February, Tuesday 27th 2018
One person was killed and another seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash on Gunntown Road Tuesday morning.
Police said at about 11:15 a.m., a 1997 Honda Civic driven by Paul Lucas, 43, of Oxford, and a 2006 Jeep Liberty operated by Alexander Oneshuck, 71, of Naugatuck, collided near 1498 Gunntown Road.
Lucas was declared dead at the scene, while Oneshuk’s injuries were originally deemed serious but later determined to non-life threatening, according to police. Oneshuck has since been treated and released from a local hospital.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Gunntown Road was closed for most of the day at the intersection of Towantic Hill Road. The road, located in a heavily wooded area near the Oxford line, finally reopened shortly after 5 p.m., according to police.
The Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. That investigation is expected to take several weeks before it is complete, police said.
