SOUTH BELOIT, IL : I-90 crash near South Beloit Toll Plaza claims life of Janesville woman on Sunday, December 4th, 2016

A 78-year-old Janesville, Wisconsin, woman died today after a collision on Interstate 90 near the South Beloit Toll Plaza.The accident occurred about 11:45 a.m.The woman's name is being withheld pending notification of family, Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said.

An investigation by the Illinois State Police showed the woman was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound in the westbound lanes near the toll plaza.

Moments later the Chevrolet struck a westbound Toyota head on.The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 25-year-old Loves Park man, was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
