LONG BEACH, CA : 5 killed in 710 Freeway crash in Long Beach on Monday, 26th June 2023

Five people, including two 15-year-olds, were killed in a crash on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach, which forced a temporary closure of all northbound lanes Monday morning.

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. at the 91 Freeway connector, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the single-vehicle crash, but it appears a black Hyundai Sonata was driving at a high speed when it crashed and burst into flames.

Dashcam video of the crash shows the car going down the freeway and collide into attenuators, which Caltrans describes as a group of barrels designed to redirect vehicles away a barrier.
