Bradenton, FL : 17-year-old skateboarder critically hurt after being hit by car on Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton on May 4th 2014

Bradenton Police are investigating a crash that left a teenage skateboarder in critical condition.

Detectives say at about 9:32 p.m. on Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was skateboarding through the intersection of Manatee Avenue and Palma Sola Boulevard when he crossed into the path of vehicle traveling eastbound in the same intersection.

The driver of the vehicle, whose identity was not released, told investigators he did not see the boy until it was too late to stop.

The teen was transported to Blake Medical Center where he is in critical, but unresponsive condition.
