Las Vegas , NV :19 - Years old Alexander Kuckenbecker killed in Car Crash along Charleston Boulevard near Hualapai Way on Thursday,April 23 2015

The driver killed in a car crash on Charleston Boulevard near Hualapai Way has been identified as Alexander Kuckenbecker, 19, of Las Vegas.

The single vehicle crashed into a pole around 1:50 p.m. at the 9700 block of Charleston Boulevard near a Home Depot. Police had to shut down the eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic on Charleston Boulevard as they investigated.

Metro Police said witnesses said the 1992 BMW 318i driven by Kuckenbecker was driving really fast east on W. Charleston Boulevard when the driver lost control.

The BMW spun out and slid from the right lane toward the center median. The passenger side of the vehicle struck a light pole in the center media.
The force of the impact was so great it caused the back of the car to separate from the front. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

This was the 35th fatal accident in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
