CENTERVILLE, OH : A tanker truck crashed in the southbound lanes near the Ohio on April, Wednesday 19th 2017

The Centerville Police Department says a mechanical failure led to a crash on I-675 on Wednesday morning.

A tanker truck crashed in the southbound lanes near the Ohio 48 exit just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday. The truck ran off the road and went nearly 50 yards before coming to a stop in the trees.Authorities say the truck was hauling non-potable water. The driver, identified as a 52-year-old man from Lebanon, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police interviewed the driver and said he suffered minor injuries. He was expected to be okay.

2 NEWS looked into the history of the company that owns the truck that crashed. The truck is registered to an individual and is based in Cincinnati.

Records show no violations and no penalties for the last three inspections.

In a 911 call provided by the Centerville Police Department, the driver of the truck says one of the front tires of his truck blew out, causing him to swerve off the road and into the trees. After investigating, police say no traffic citations will be issued as a result of the crash.

After removing the truck from the treeline, authorities found a 300 gallon diesel tank was still in the woods, causing the EPA to be called to the scene. Authorities say they don’t believe any fuel spilled in the woods, but called the EPA as a precaution.

Crews worked for several hours to remove the truck from the woods.
