AUSTIN, TX : APD officer and K9 involved in semi-truck collision on I-35 on Thursday, January, 11th 2018

An Austin police officer and their K-9 partner both had to be checked out by doctors after they were involved in a car crash early Thursday morning.

No word yet on the cause, but police say the crash, which happened around 12:30 a.m. involved a semi truck and a patrol car being driven by an on-duty K-9 officer. The officer was taken to the hospital and the K-9 was taken to a veterinarian as a precaution.

Austin police say the officer’s patrol car had significant damage.
