GOSHEN, IN : Goshen officer injured in three-vehicle crash on Saturday, November 12th 2016
A Goshen Police Department officer sustained minor injuries to his lower back and mouth after a three-vehicle crash Saturday morning at the intersection of Ind. 19 and C.R. 26 in Goshen.
According to Elkhart County police reports, Joshua Havens, 43, Elkhart, was eastbound on C.R. 26 crossing Ind. 19 in his 2010 Chevrolet Impala police car at 8:52 a.m. Saturday when a 2000 GMC Safari driven by Robert Mast, 76, Elkhart, failed to stop at the stoplight while crossing C.R. 26.
Mast’s vehicle collided with Havens’ car, causing it to spin around and strike a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Jade Murphy, 19, Nappanee. Murphy’s vehicle was stopped facing northbound on Ind. 19 at C.R. 26 in the far northbound lane, according to police reports.
Havens was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of pain to his lower back and mouth. Neither of the other drivers were injured in the crash and none of the cars had passengers.
Mast was issued a citation for disregarding an automatic signal, the report said.
