Charges are pending against a Tripp teenager following a pickup vs. semi collision Friday in which two people sustained minor injuries.
Kenneth Meisenhoelder, 15, was transported to the Parkston hospital after the 1998 Chevy Silverado he was driving pulled through the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and 411th Avenue, which is ½ mile north of Tripp, colliding with a 1979 Peterbilt Conventional.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the Silverado was southbound on 411th at about 11:23 a.m., stopped at the intersection and proceeded south into the intersection. Officials say the driver of the Silverado stated he did not see anyone when he stopped, and the collision sent both vehicles into the north ditch.
A 15-year-old passenger in the Silverado sustained minor injuries, and both occupants of the vehicle were not wearing a seat belt. No charges are pending against the 48-year-old male driver of the semi.
South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office, Tripp Police Department and Tripp Fire and Ambulance were also on scene.
