Chicago, IL : Four people were hurt when a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into a cab on Lake Shore Drive near Randolph early Friday on May 2nd 2014
A wrong-way crash on Lake Shore Drive left four people injured, two critically, and closed northbound lanes near Randolph for two and a half hours.
Chicago police said a Subaru SUV was traveling south in the northbound lanes around 2 a.m. Friday when it struck a cab carrying two passengers head-on, between Monroe and Randolph Streets.
The male wrong-way driver was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, according to police. The cab driver and his two passengers were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police said the cab driver is listed in stable condition. The two passengers, a 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, are in critical condition. The woman is listed in "very" critical condition, police said.
The northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive re-opened around 4:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
