TUCSON, AZ : Motorcyclist fighting for life following freak accident on Interstate 10 near Marana on Monday, 7th October 2024

A motorcyclist was fighting for their life following a freak accident on Interstate 10 eastbound near Marana on Monday, Oct. 7.

Arizona DPS confirmed the crash happened near milepost 232, which is just east of Pinal Air Park Road.

DPS said a tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on I-10 when a tire blew out, causing the vehicle to crash into the median. The truck hit a cable barrier, sending pieces of a guardrail into the eastbound lanes.

According to DPS, the motorcyclist crashed while trying to avoid the debris. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and protective gear but was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
