Rapid City,SD : Student hit by car near Wilson Elementary suffers minor injuries on October, Wednesday 25th 2017
An 8-year-old student dropped off across the street from Wilson Elementary School Wednesday morning received minor foot injuries after being struck by a car.
It was the second pedestrian accident at a Rapid City elementary school within a week. On Oct. 19, a Robbinsdale Elementary first grader suffered minor injuries from an SUV after darting in front of a van.
In neither instance was the injured child near a crosswalk, said a Rapid City Police Department spokesperson.
Wednesday’s mishap occurred around 8 a.m. on Franklin Street less than one block west of Mount Rushmore Road. The child had exited a westbound vehicle that had pulled to the far curb, an area posted “no stopping” during morning hours, the spokesperson said. The child then moved into the space behind a passing vehicle and in front of an SUV going east. No citations were issued.
