Topeka, KS : Texas man killed in fiery crash on Kansas Turnpike near Emporia on February, Tuesday 13th 2018

A Texas man died Tuesday morning when his vehicle crashed and caught fire on the Kansas Turnpike, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred about 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 35 about 8 miles south of Emporia.

A highway patrol crash log said Thomas Andrew Sawyer, 58, of Temple, Texas, was driving a 2010 TR freighliner south when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire.

His body was taken to an Emporia funeral home.
