Columbus, OH : Two young sisters die from Friday Outerbelt crash on September 16 2016
Two young sisters have died from injuries they suffered in a crash Friday on Interstate 270 in southern Franklin County.
Louisa Mosley, 9, was pronounced dead early Monday morning after Eleanor Mosley, 7, had died earlier at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the girls’ mother reported in a social-media post.
Erin Mosley added that her daughters’ organs were being donated so that other children “may live fuller, healthier lives.” The organ donation was continuing late into Monday evening, said the Rev. Mike O’Bryant, pastor of the Bloom Baptist Church in Lithopolis, where the family attends.
The two girls were in the third seat of a Chevy SUV that their father, Samuel Mosley, was driving when the crash occurred about 4 p.m. Friday as they traveled west on I-270 near Route 23. Their SUV was slowing for stopped traffic when, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a semi-truck smashed into the rear of the SUV. The Mosleys’ SUV then was pushed into another vehicle.
Walter Mosley, 4, the couple’s son, and Beatrice Mosley, their 15-month-old daughter, also were injured and are expected to survive. Mr. Mosley, 41, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center; Mrs. Mosley, 39, wasn’t injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Inderjit Samra, 39, of Ontario, Canada, the driver of the semi, was treated for injuries at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. So far, no charges have been filed.
The family lives in Bloom Township in Fairfield County. Louisa was a fourth-grader and Eleanor a second-grader in Canal Winchester schools. The family was headed to Nashville, Tennessee, to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. Mosley’s parents.
