Santa Barbara County, CA :Lompoc Woman Killed In Early Morning Car Crash on Friday, July 3rd 2015

A woman was killed following a vehicle accident on Highway 1 just south of Jalama Road that occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Friday.The California Highway Patrol said that two vehicles collided. Six people were involved in the crash.Officials said a 2005 Toyota Corolla drifted off the side of the road while traveling northbound on Highway 1. The car struck a large boulder causing it to go airborne and hit a PG&E power pole.The car came to rest in the northbound lane and then stuck a 1997 Toyota Avalon.A 22-year-old Lompoc woman in the Corolla's passenger seat sustained blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.An 8-year-old girl from Mexico was seated in the front of the Corolla not wearing a seat belt. She was ejected from the car and landed in a field near the crash site. She sustained life-threatening blunt force injuries. She was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.The driver of the Corolla, 29-year-old Manuel Santos of Lompoc, sustained major injuries. He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Once released form the hospital, officials said he will be charged with felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.Two dogs were reportedly discovered in one of the vehicles involved in the collision, and animal was called to assist. Both dogs survived according to the passenger of the Avalon, 20-year-old Mia Rodierda-Wallo.The driver and passenger in the Avalon are both from Lompoc. They were transported to Marian Medical Center with moderate injuries.The CHP shut down Highway 1 near the scene in both directions, until officials concluded their investigation and clean-up crews removed debris from the road.A Calstar helicopter was called but was unable to take off due to bad weather.
