Cumberland, MD : Two injured in Frostburg Main Street wreck on Monday, September 12, 2016
Two people were taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following a 7:30 a.m. accident Monday on Frostburg's Main Street, according to a dispatcher at the Allegany County 911 Center.
The three-car wreck took place at the traffic signal at East Main Street and state Route 36, according to Sgt. Irv Buskirk of the Frostburg Police Department.
"All three cars were eastbound on Main Street," Buskirk said. "The at-fault driver, a 16 year old male, said his window got steamed up and he couldn't see."
That car rear-ended one being driven by Frostburg resident Michael Yaeger, 49, and knocked it forward into the back of a car being driven by John Lohnas, 47, also of Frostburg.
The Yaeger and Lohnas vehicles were either stopped or stopping when they were struck, Buskirk said.
Ambulances from Frostburg and Mount Savage transported the juvenile and Yaeger to the hospital.
Lohnas was not injured, according to Buskirk, and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene. The juvenile driver was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
The Frostburg Fire Department responded as well.
