Monett, MO : Springfield man dies in wreck on Sunday, December, 24th 2017

A Springfield man died Sunday in a wreck at 5:20 a.m. on Interstate 44, one mile west of Mt. Vernon.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Christopher Loch, 38, of Springfield, was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram westbound and was previously in an accident and disabled in the roadway when struck by a 2010 Ford F150, being driven by David Wallace, 29, of Porter, Texas.

Loch was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:24 a.m. by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Larry Eden. Wallace was not injured.

Both were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.

This is the 111th fatal wreck of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Lawrence and Barry.
