A motorcyclist headed east on the Bay Bridge was killed when he was rear ended by a car and ejected from his bike, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 2:15 a.m. on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge, about a mile west of Treasure Island, said Officer Vu Williams, a CHP spokesman.
The biker’s name was not immediately released.
Williams said the motorcyclist was riding in the middle eastbound lane on the lower deck of the span when a gold Nissan Altima rear ended him and he was thrown from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman driving the Nissan stopped and was cooperating with CHP officers investigating the crash.
Three eastbound lanes of the bridge were closed for more than two hours to investigate the crash.
