MESA, AZ : 2 killed, 1 injured in separate motorcycle crashes on Saturday, February 25th 2017

Two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured in separate collisions in the East Valley on Saturday.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says the first incident took place around 2 p.m. when two motorcycles collided with a van that was trying to cross Main Street in east Mesa.

One of the motorcyclists was transported to a hospital, where he died. The other suffered serious head injuries and lacerations.

Police don’t believe that impairment was a factor in the crash.

The second incident took place on Saturday evening when a man identified as Steven Slager was riding a motorcycle on Power and Guadalupe roads in Gilbert.

Police say the driver of a car made a left turn in front of Slager, who was wearing a helmet.

MCSO says the driver in that crash was not impaired.
