CONCORD, CA : Two hospitalized after Bailey Road crash in Concord on Wednesday, November, 22nd 2017
A major commute bypass that runs through east and central Contra Costa County was closed for more than three hours Wednesday morning after a multi-car crash that hospitalized two motorists.
The wreck, reported at 7 a.m., involved three cars: a 1996 Nissan, a 2003 Toyota, and a 2003 Dodge. Two Antioch residents, both males, in the Nissan were transported to hospitals. The driver, 32, suffered major injuries and a passenger, 25, had major life-threatening injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Toyota, a 53-year-old man from Bay Point, suffered minor injuries and the driver of the Dodge, a 50-year-old from Oakley, also had minor injuries, said CHP spokesman Brandon Correia.
By 10:30 a.m., commuters were once again allowed to drive the stretch of Bailey Road between Pittsburg and Concord.
Drivers heading to Concord were turned away at Keller Road, while those heading in the other direction could not go past Myrtle Drive.
Bailey Road is used by many drivers to bypass state Highway 4, notoriously packed with vehicles during the morning commute.
