Sennett,NY : Driver charged for Sennett crash that killed passengers, including 2-year-old on November, Thursday 9th 2017
The driver in a fatal crash in Sennett over the summer is now facing homicide charges, according to the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office.
Kadesha Dunham, 24, of Tolbert Avenue, North Syracuse, was charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide and three counts of third-degree assault.
Dunham had been driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata west along Franklin Street Road on June 16 when she came upon a concrete truck in front of her.
Dunham attempted to pass the truck on a double solid line -- a no-passing zone -- over a blind hill, DA Jon Budelmann stated. She then collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck.
Terrell Jackson, 29, and 2-year-old IyLeiah Noreault were killed from the crash. Both were passengers in Dunham's vehicle.
Dunham's 3-year-old son, who was also in the sedan, was left paralyzed and Dunham also suffered serious injuries, Budelmann said. Shandelle Benjamin-Noreault, 30, the mother of the 2-year-old and another passenger in the car, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
After a months-long investigation, Dunham has been charged for her role in the incident. The district attorney's office stated there was no evidence that alcohol or drug impairment were involved.
