Red Bluff, CA : Red Bluff man injured in single vehicle crash on Monday, July 31, 2017

A Red Bluff man was transported to a Chico hospital Monday with moderate to major injuries after he collided with a power pole at little after 4 a.m. on State Route 99E near Bray Ave, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.

Gabriel Jonsson, 29, said he had fallen asleep right before he hit the power pole with his 1986 Ford pickup, according to CHP. Jonsson was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.

The pickup sustained major damage and caught on fire, CHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
