Two kills in crash one injures near Bristol Tennessee
Two people are dead and another remains hospitalized after a violent crash Saturday night.According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash happened Saturday around 7 p.m. at exit 74, near the Bristol Regional Medical Center.THP tells us a tractor-trailer heading northbound hit the back of a Toyota Camry, causing both vehicles to cross over two lanes and hit the concrete median.
The driver of the truck, 54-year-old Carl R. Osburn of Princeton, West Virginia, died in the crash.According to THP, Osburn was ejected and landed in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81. Police believe he was then hit by another car heading southbound.
The driver of that car, 31-year-old Crystal Ward of Louisville, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license.THP says Osburn was killed from the original crash and not the secondary crash.The driver of the Camry, 81 year old Dennis Dawson of Beckley, West Virginia, died at Bristol Regional Medical Center around 2 a.m. Sunday.The passenger in the Camry was Dawson's wife, 75-year-old Connie Dawson. We're told she is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Both north and southbound lanes were shut down for several hours after the accident but were reopened around 3 a.m. Sunday.
