Tacoma, WA : A female driver was killed in a wreck on Friday, September 8, 2017

A female driver was killed in a wreck on state Route 167 in Auburn on Friday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. on northbound SR 167 near the 15th Street Southwest exit, State Patrol spokesman Rick Johnson said.

The car came to rest against the base of the 15th Street overpass, a State Patrol photo shows, well above the freeway below.

Troopers believe the woman was intoxicated before the crash, Johnson said. She was not wearing a seat belt.The woman’s male passenger was uninjured.One lane of northbound SR 167 was closed as part of the collision investigation, which is ongoing.
