Rapid City, SD : Pedestrian injured in downtown crash on Friday, 23rd March 2018
A 64-year-old Rapid City woman was given a traffic citation Friday after hitting a pedestrian near the corner of St. Joseph and Third streets.
Joyce Priebe was driving down St. Joseph just before 8 a.m. when her SUV collided with a woman crossing the street from north to south, according to the Rapid City Police Department. The pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk, was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said Priebe didn’t see the pedestrian because the sun was in her eyes and glare was bouncing off the wet road. Neither alcohol nor speeding were factors in the crash, they said.
Police spokesman Brendyn Medina advised motorists to slow down under similar conditions, particularly with more people now walking around in the warmer weather.
