Dover, DE : Pennsylvania man seriously hurt in Route 1 crash on Saturday, 17th September 2016
A Landenberg, Pennsylvania man, identified as Juan Busto Iniestas, 55, was admitted in critical but stable condition to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital following weekend crash.
The collision took place at about 3:13 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the State Route 1 toll plaza in Dover, Delaware State Police Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard D. Bratz said.
According to the preliminary investigation, Iniestas was traveling between the right EZ Pass lane and the median south of the toll plaza and was swerving between the right land left lanes of travel in the northbound lane. For some reason, Iniestas hit the guardrail end that divides the EZ Pass lanes from the cash lanes, Bratz said. A mini-motorcycle in the back of the 1995 GMC Jimmy was thrown forward and was found pinned against the windshield.
Iniestas was cited for driving without a valid license, failure to have insurance identification in possession, failure to have registration card in possession, and failed to remain within a single lane.
State police are continuing their investigation into this incident, Bratz said. Route 1 northbound was impacted for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
