Stevens Point, WI : 20-year-old Reedsville man suffered injuries in semi-truck crash on Monday December 14 2015

A 20-year-old Reedsville man suffered severe injuries Monday when the car he was driving crossed a median and hit a semi-truck, the Portage County Sheriff's Department said. The crash happened about 5:15 a.m. at on state Highway 10 just east of County Highway J, Sheriff Mike Lukas said in a statement.
Joseph Krizek was trapped inside his car, a Buick Park Avenue, that was on fire, Lukas said. An off-duty Waupaca County deputy sheriff used a fire extinguisher from his personal car to put the flames.
It's unknown why Krizek's eastbound car went out of control, through the median and into the path of the westbound truck.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but excessive speed and wet roadway conditions are considered to be contributing factors," the sheriff said.
More than 2 inches of rain drenched parts of central Wisconsin Sunday and early Monday.
Krizek was taken to Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, the sheriff said. A spokesman for the hospital did not immediately return a telephone message Monday afternoon.
