Westminster, VT : One killed, one critically injured in high speed crash on Milkway Road in Westminster on Sunday, May 22, 2016
A Vermont man was killed when he was thrown from a four-wheeled ATV traveling at high speed Sunday Vermont State Police investigators said.
According to police, the driver of the John Deere four-wheeled ATV was traveling on Milkway Road in Westminster at high speed just after 8 p.m. when the ATV hit a mound over a culvert buried under the road. The ATV went out of control and ran off the side of the road into a wooded area. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and hit a tree.
The unresponsive victim was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department where he was pronounced dead. The police report does not specify who transported the victim from the scene.
The driver of the ATV, 24-year-old Andrew Iepli, suffered a broken hand in the crash. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Three hours later, another Vermont man was critically injured when the car he was driving went out of control and rolled over several times, throwing him from the car.
Vermont State Police investigators say, Orion Ferland, 22, of Orleans, Vermont, was ejected from the rolling vehicle and was critically injured.
He was transported from the scene of the crash in Brownington, Vermont by ambulance.
Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash, however, a breath sample was not obtained from the victim due to the severity of his injuries.
