A single vehicle crash on W.Va. 9 west Monday morning killed the driver instantly, according to officials.
Stephen Andrews, 42, of Martinsburg, was traveling on W.Va. 9 westbound at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday when he struck the bridge pylon on the W.Va. 9 overpass between the Leetown and Wiltshire exits.
Chief Roper of the Ranson Police Department said the cause of the accident is undetermined, but the Ranson PD’s accident reconstruction officer is still investigating.
The accident shut traffic down for approximately three hours Monday for clean up and investigation.
Roper said officials also inspected the bridge to ensure it was safe.
