Kings County, CA : Hanford motorcyclist dies after Kings County collision on early Tuesday, July 22, 2014
The 49-year-old motorcyclist from Hanford was killed early Tuesday in a collision in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred at 5:15 a.m. The motorcyclist, a male whose name has not been released, was westbound on Grangeville Boulevard on a 2007 Harley-Davidson while Jaime Vargas, 50 of Hanford, was eastbound in a Chevrolet.
The CHP said Vargas attempted a left turn onto 16th Avenue and drove into the path of the motorcyclist. The rider applied brakes but was unable to stop and hit the car.
The rider sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
