Gerber,CA : Both drivers injured in Gerber collision on August, Monday 28th 2017
A 59-year-old Gerber woman was flown to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with major injuries following a two-vehicle collision reported at 5:15 a.m. Monday on 99W at Gyle Road.
Lisa Nunes was driving a 1999 Nissan south on 99W about 45 mph approaching Gyle Road as Efrem Grimes, 46, of Modesto approached, headed eastbound on Gyle in a 2014 Hino truck. Grimes accelerated to make a left turn onto 99W directly into the path of Nunes, according to a California Highway Patrol press release issued Tuesday.
The front of the Nissan hit the left side of the Hino and came to rest on the east corner of the intersection. The Hino rolled over onto its right side, coming to rest in the northeast corner of the intersection.
Nunes, whose injuries included a fractured leg, had to be extricated from the Nissan.
Grimes, who had minor injuries, including complaint of pain to his back and knee, was taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
