Longview, TX : One person killed in Rusk County crash on Monday morning, March 20, 2017

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Rusk County Monday morning.

State troopers were called to the scene about 7:22 a.m. on U.S. 79 in Rusk County, three miles east of Henderson.

According to a preliminary crash investigation, a driver of a Ford pickup was westbound on U.S. 79 when the truck veered into the eastbound lane, striking an tractor-trailer.

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene by Rusk County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Jackie Risinger.

The identity of the driver was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured and has been identified as Allen Wesenberg, 30, of Woodville.

The crash remains under investigation.
