FRESNO, CA : A Lemoore man is dead in a three-vehicle collision on Tuesday, May 30, 2017
A Lemoore man is dead after being involved in a three-vehicle collision Monday in Fresno on Friant Road near the intersection of Copper Avenue.
On Monday at about 9:42 a.m., the Fresno California Highway Patrol Communication Center received a call of the collision with the crash involving a car and two motorcycles.
Based upon the preliminary accident investigation, officers said that the driver of a 1998 Ford Taurus, a 90-year-old female, was driving 25 miles per hour southbound on Friant Road within the left turn pocket to turn eastbound on Copper Avenue. A 41-year-old Fresno motorcyclist and 36-year-old Joshua Gill of Lemoore were both traveling southbound on Friant at about 50-60 miles per hour.
According to the CHP, as the two motorcyclists entered the intersection, the driver of the car turned directly into the path of both of them. The two weren’t able to avoid the collision and were ejected from their motorcycles.
The car sustained major passenger side, windshield and roof damage.
After the collision, the driver of the car complained of pain and was transported by ambulance to Saint Agnes Hospital, the CHP said. Both motorcyclists were planned to be transported by ambulance to Fresno’s Community Regional Medical Center. But on the way, the ambulance carrying Gill was diverted to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fresno due to the critical nature of his injuries and the close proximity of the hospital.
