Sun City, AZ : 44-year-old Tor Stobbe killed when hits tree, catches fire on Wednesday night, April 15, 2015

A man died when his car went off a Sun City street, hit a tree head-on and caught fire.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office identified the man who died Wednesday night as 44-year-old Tor Stobbe.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the car's engine compartment caught fire when the car struck the tree.

The Sheriff's Office said the impact was so violent that one of the car's wheels separated from the vehicle and landed on a nearby home's roof.
