Chester, SC : Lewisville High School student killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Chester County on Tuesday night, December 1, 2015

The driver of a Ford F-150 ran off of a Chester County road and died Tuesday night, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

William Cory Abernathy, a Lewisville High School senior, has been identified as the driver. Wednesday, Lewisville High School released a statement saying that they "lost one of (their) own last night."

Troopers say Abernathy's truck veered off of Gaston Farm Road around 11:35 p.m. and hit a tree, killing him. No other vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash.

Abernathy will be remembered by the school as a hard working, outdoorsman, who loved spending time with his family and friends.

"He was a man’s man who had learned the love of welding at the Chester County Career Center and had plans to pursue this career field after graduation," the high school said in a Facebook post. "He was part of a fine group of our young men who loved his country and loved to fly the American flag on their trucks. His sweet smile, easygoing manner, and warm personality will surely be missed by his friends and faculty at Lewisville High School. Our condolences go out to his family. Arrangements will be announced later."
