A 21-year-old from Portsmouth died after he was hit head-on by a driver going the wrong direction on 195 in Somerset early Wednesday morning.
ABC6 News learned that several good samaritans pulled over on the highway to try and save that young man, identified as Adriaen Thibeault.
Miriam Cruz, from Fall River, is a driver for FedEx in Seekonk. She works the early shift and was making a delivery when she saw the car caught on fire. Cruz said she didn’t think twice when she pulled over to help.
“The car was caught on fire and I didn’t think about it, I just stopped, parked my car on the side, and ran across the street,” Cruz said. “I tried to pull the door open. I couldn’t open the door. It was stuck.”
As Cruz struggled to open the door, she said all she could think about was her own children.
“I was like it could be one of my kids, he was a young guy just 21-years-old,” Cruz said.
