Morgan,UT : Driver falls asleep at wheel, causing two-vehicle crash on I-84 in Morgan on may, Sunday 28th 2017

A male driver drove through a cable barrier and side-swiped another car after he fell asleep at the wheel Sunday afternoon on Interstate 84, police say.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Arik Beesley said crews were dispatched at about 3:40 p.m. Monday, May 28, to milepost 97 on eastbound I-84 to a reported two-vehicle crash.

Beesley said a westbound driver fell asleep at the wheel and then drove through a cable barrier into eastbound traffic. The man’s car then side-swiped another car.

Some of the occupants of the two vehicles reported minor injuries, but no one was seriously injured, Beesley said.

The crash closed eastbound lanes of I-84 for more than an hour Sunday afternoon. As of 5:30 p.m. eastbound lanes were still closed, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
